Imo APC says Buhari will win Saturday’s election

The Imo State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress is optimistic that President Muhammadu Buhari will win the February 23 presidential election.

The party is however concerned that the rescheduled presidential and National Assembly polls would witness voter apathy, especially in the South-East.

Briefing journalists in Owerri, the state capital on Monday, the state chairman of the APC, Daniel Nwafor, said the party was working assiduously to ensure that Buhari wins.

He said possible low turnout of voters was also an issue of concern.

Nwafor said, “We are very confident that President Buhari will win on Saturday. We are re-strategising to ensure that Buhari wins convincingly in Imo State. But we are concerned about voter apathy, especially in the South-East.

“No doubt, there will be large turnout of voters in the North and West on the rescheduled date, but here in the East, there is possibility of low turnout of voters.

“Our people will prefer to sit at home to watch televisions having been disappointed by INEC last week Saturday, but I pray they prove me  wrong.

“We are not relenting. We are mobilising our members ahead of the rescheduled date. We are having series of meetings. I will be meeting with the LGA chairmen after now. I just finished meeting with the ward chairmen.

“All these meetings are targeted at ensuring that President Muhammadu Buhari wins convincingly.”
